He wanted a B movie, and he got it.

I’m a fan of M. Night Shyamalan, not one of his vocal detractors. He’s got a cache in Hollywood that transcends the “hyphen” of being an Indian-born American, and I’m loving that hard-earned respect. But I didn’t know what to make of the press surrounding his new film, “The Happening.” Night himself said he wanted to make a B movie, and told his cast and crew to treat it as such. Forget about making something that speaks—that’s so 1999. After seeing it tonight, I can say with confidence he did what he set out to do. But why?
